All about me: Childcare Professional

When I was a little girl I wanted to be a nurse. I’ve always wanted to help others, to help others achieve happiness.

It’s my goal to help parents and carers achieve GUILT-FREE Self-care.

I offer a childcare service for all ages in the child’s own environment, as and when needed! *

Hi. My name is Claire Alexandra Donaghy. I’m divorced with 3 daughters (ages 17, 14 & 3), 1 stepdaughter (26) and a stepson (22). We have 2 family dogs and live in Bolton.

I’m an Ofsted registered childminder/homecarer offering childcare in your home.

I fell into childcare after my second daughter was born after lots of years in customer service. I needed to be at home with my family to meet their needs at all times. I became a childminder and soon found my lifelong passion in childcare. I loved that I was able to contribute to the family income whilst meeting new people, providing a service for parents and caring for others precious little ones.

I was in a small group of childminders in Bolton who first completed ‘children’s care, learning and development’ NVQ level 3 qualification as group, which was offered free.

I became one of the first accredited childminders in Bolton offering the free government funded places for 3 and 4 year olds, just like nurseries. It was a turning point for childminders, potential clients were thrilled to be offered their 15 hours in a flexible way, how they needed it. This enabled parents and carers to go to work without limiting the times they could go.

I gained a level 4 ‘Certificate in Early Years Practice’ through the Open University.

I was always bursting with ideas and with the help of my stepdaughter as my assistant, business was booming! My passion over-spilled to my stepdaughter and she needed more opportunities. We parted ways while I was on maternity leave and she is now a Room Leader in a busy nursery and expecting her own little Dot! I’m so excited to be a grandparent!

I had my youngest daughter and we moved counties (from Lancashire to Leicestershire) and again in the lovely Market Harborough I was still bursting with ideas and available to help local families fulfil their goals.

After an amazing time learning so much and meeting some amazing people we moved back to Bolton and are helping parents and carers in and around Bolton and the surrounding areas.
